Muiderslot.
In 1285 Floris V commissioned to build Muiderslot. Until then the land belonged to the Bishop of Utrecht. Floris bought the land around Amsterdam and Muiden and built this castle to protect the only road to Amsterdam accessible in winter. Foris died in Muiderslot, because some noblemen did not like the switch of ruler. After the war that followed they destroyed Muiderslot. It was rebuilt and destroyed again during the war with the Duke of Geldre.Also on Travelharts.com.
