Krakow, Wawel Royal Castle – Poland

with No Comments

Wawel Royal Castle.

In the center of Krakow you will find a beautiful castle. During the 10th or 11th century the kings of Poland settled here and they started to create a palace castle.

During the Swedish invasions of 1655, the invaders plundered the castle. After the Austrian-Hungarian empire added this part of Poland to their empire, they destroyed a large part of this medieval castle.

Now it’s one of Poland’s jewels on display. You can also walk around it, put your hands on the walk of fame and behold the dragon’s fire.

Mechelen was the first holiday my wife and I took together. It’s small enough to see within a weekend and pretty enough to take many photos like the ones shown.

We also have a blog. On it you’ll find a story about Krakow in Poland.

There is a lot to do for kids in Krakow: Rynek Glowny, the Zoo, Wawel Hill with its dragon and handprints of celebs, playgrounds and E. Wedel chocolates.
