In 2013 my wife and I visited the city Kanchanaburi in the west of Thailand. This history of this city is overshadowed by tragedy. Tragedy, because of the many people who lost their lives whilst building a railway through Thailand and Birma (now Myanmar). After years of scattered burrials the numerous Allied soldiers as well as civilians were reburried, most of them in Kanchanaburi. Also the Japanse have created a sanctuary there that is worth a visit.
