Cochem, jewel of the river Moselle – Germany

with No Comments

Cochem.

Cochem is one of German’s most beautiful places to be. This picturesque city is located at the river Moselle and there are many vinyards in the area. English painters, like Stanfield and Turner, have made this place famous outside Germany and these days many tourists come to Cochem to enjoy the views themselves.

Stroll through the medieval city center, look at the street artists and buy a souvenir made in China. It is also nice to try out the variety of German local wines. Alternatively you can climb the hill to the monastery or visit the castle. Last mentioned castle overlooks the city and is definitely one of our favorites in the area.

On both sides of the river ‘Our’ one can find the picturesque city of Vianden. It already existed in Roman times, when there was a castellum.

We also have a blog. Check out this story about our own little adventure in France.

In October 2018 the river Aude flooded in the south of France. We stayed in Coursan as the water rose. Would we be safe inside or should we move?
