Münster
Münster got his name from the latin word monasterium (monastery) and refers to the Diocese Münster founded in 793 by Charles the Great. There is always a lot of trading between the Netherlands and Germany. Münster is one of the German Hanseatic cities. Münster invaded the Netherlands in 1678 but was forced out the same year. During WWII Münster was bombed by the allies. Almost every building was destroyed. After the war the complete city had to be rebuilt.
